Silent Retreats
Gravity Commons hosts occasional Silent Retreats at Fall Creek Abbey in Indianapolis.
The Quaker mystic Thomas Kelly once wrote, "Deep within us there is an amazing inner sanctuary of the soul, a holy space, a Divine Center, a speaking Voice, to which we may continuously return."
This sanctuary of the soul is often most readily discovered during extended times of silence.
But silence is difficult to find in the course of our daily lives. So it's helpful to enter into silence within a carefully cultivated space and structure. That’s what a Silent Retreat provides.
Practicing silence together
You’ll stay onsite in one of four guest rooms at Fall Creek Abbey in Indianapolis. Three rooms have queen beds, one room has a single bed, and there are two shared bathrooms. (Click here to see pictures.)
For 40 hours we will maintain a discipline of silence together except during times of corporate prayer.
The retreat begins with dinner and an introduction at 6:00pm on Thursday evening, and concludes at 1:00pm on Saturday after a time of sharing during lunch. Lodging, meals, and snacks are included.
The cost is $300 for an individual or $450 per couple. Space is limited to the four rooms available.
There are no Silent Retreats currently scheduled, but if you're interested in attending one in the future, please let us know by filling out the form below.
